Set against a beautifully glowing morning sky, the morning glory leaves stretch dynamically toward the sun, while a newly emerged cicada, with translucent green wings, rests upon one of the leave. This multi-layered cased glass features a vibrant pink and yellow mottled background overlaid with opalescent and varying shades of green vitrification layers. The morning glory motif has been delicately acid-etched to capture the soft texture of the leaves, while the base is entirely covered with fine hammered patterns created using the martele technique.
The glossy and striking cicada is applied in thick enamel layers of green, blue, and yellow, giving it a three-dimensional yet painterly effect. Additionally, gold leaf embedded throughout the glass sparkles brilliantly, enhancing the overall luminosity of the piece.
With the dazzling colors and intricate decoration characteristic of Daum, this work encapsulates a vivid, life-filled world within the glass, making it a rare and highly artistic creation.<br>
